Service Description

Prerequisite: Dogs must have the Canine Good Citizen certificate or title on record with the AKC. Dogs must have an AKC registration number, Purebred Alternative Listing (PAL) number, or AKC Canine Partners number in order to record the test. All dogs, including mixed breeds, can get an AKC number. Description: This class will prepare you to take the AKC CGC Urban test. The CGCU is a test of practical behaviors for dogs that live in and are tested in urban areas. The CGCU is more advanced than the CGC, and dogs must have the CGC test on record with the AKC in order to earn the CGCU. The CGCU is tested out in the “real world” and as such will meet in locations around town. This class will cover the 10 test items, including entering and exiting dog friendly buildings, walking nicely on busy urban sidewalks and stairs or elevators, appropriate reactions to city distractions, crossing busy streets nicely, ignoring food on sidewalks, friendly strangers and maintaining stays inside dog friendly buildings. Class length: 5 weeks meeting around town. The test will be administered on week 5. Note: Each class may last up to 2 hours, depending on location. The class requires attendance at a restaurant for appetizers/dinner in order to meet the requirements of the class and each person is responsible for his or her own bill for refreshments. Minimum of 5 dogs, maximum of 8 dogs.
